At Academy 147 we offer Level 3 Line and Base Maintenance B1 and B2 Theoretical Element Type Training courses for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. These courses are compliant with EASA Part-66 Appendix III – Type Training and Examination Standard.
Upon completion of one of our EASA Part-147 approved Level 3 Line and Base Maintenance courses (B1 and/or B2), the participants will have knowledge in the following areas:
a detailed understanding of the aircraft’s systems;
locations and functions of the key components related to each system;
performing system monitoring and operational tests IAW (in accordance with) and the aircraft’s technical documentation;
fault diagnosis and troubleshooting methods;
a working knowledge of the aircraft’s maintenance manuals and technical documentation;
familiarization with various maintenance checks and intervals related to the aircraft;
gaining insight into the common snags experienced during maintenance events;
use of special tooling related to the aircraft.
The purpose of a Level 3 Line and Base Maintenance courses is for participants to acquire the knowledge necessary to perform and certify maintenance tasks permitted to be carried out as certifying staff category B1.1 and B2. In addition, the participants will also have sufficient knowledge and experience to make decisions and effectively troubleshoot and rectify faults in an aircraft maintenance environment.
We use a variety of visual media and schematics along with our training manuals to engage participants. Our instructors are all rated and experienced on the aircraft type they are teaching. Each instructor is actively working on the aircraft and is up to date with the latest in service developments related to maintaining the aircraft.
Upon completing one of our B1/B2 Theoretical Element courses and passing the examinations, participants will receive an EASA Part-147 Certificate of Recognition issued by Academy 147.
For the participants to earn a Certificate of Recognition and to sit for the exams, a 90% attendance policy is required to successfully complete the course.
All examinations are performed closed book as per regulations. The minimum pass mark is 75 %.
At the completion of Level 3 training, the participant will be able to:
understand the theoretical fundamentals; apply knowledge in a practical manner using detailed procedures;
recall the safety precautions to be observed when working on or near the aircraft, powerplant and systems;
describe systems and aircraft handling particularly access, power availability and sources;
identify the locations of the principal components;
explain the normal functioning of each major system, including terminology and nomenclature;
perform the procedures for servicing associated with the aircraft for the following systems: Fuel, Power Plants, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Water/Waste and Oxygen;
demonstrate proficiency in use of crew reports and on-board reporting systems (minor troubleshooting) and determine aircraft airworthiness per the MEL/CDL;
demonstrate the use, interpretation and application of appropriate documentation including instructions for continued airworthiness, maintenance manual, illustrated parts catalogue, etc.
demonstrate a theoretical knowledge of aircraft systems and structures and interrelationships with other systems, provide a detailed description of the subject using theoretical fundamentals and specific examples and to interpret results from various sources and measurements and apply corrective action where appropriate;
perform system, powerplant, component and functional checks as specified in the aircraft maintenance manual;
demonstrate the use, interpret and apply appropriate documentation including structural repair manual, troubleshooting manual etc.;
correlate information for the purpose of making decisions in respect of fault diagnosis and rectification to maintenance manual level;
describe procedures for replacement of components unique to aircraft type.
